Come to the headquarters of the 9th Annual Costa Rica Blues Festival, The Garden Bar in Playas del Coco and enjoy the official kick off of the 9th Annual Costa Rica Blues Festival and meet the artists, staff and volunteers of the Festival the day before the Main Event

Performances by blues historian and Delta blues musician from Phoenix Arizona, Leon J; The Midnights, performing classic and modern Blues with some funky grooves and soulful vocals. Canadian blues legend, Donnie Walsh “Mr. Downchild” backed by Tamarindo` s favorite rock and blues band, The Leatherbacks; and dance to Strictly Vinyl DJ Set by Black Beat featuring Robert Aguilar (Los Neotics & The Midnights Lead Singer), spinning a mind-blowing selection of old rare uncut Funky Tracks and well-known Funk, Soul and Disco classics for everybody to get down at the Costa Rica Blues Festival Meet & Greet Party. All Vinyl!

Get ready for an amazing day of music, sun, food and fun.

The Main event of the 9th Annual Costa Rica Blues Festival will take place on Saturday February 15 at the Papagayo Golf & Country Club, located just 15 minutes from Playas del Coco.

For this occasion we are pleased to announce the Blues Hall of Fame inductee and four-time Blues Music Award winner: Joe Louis Walker as the headliner;  plus from California: JC Smith, Chris Ruest from Austin Texas, Sparky Parker from Houston, Texas; from Philadelphia, PA, band leader and international clinician/ambassador for C.F. Martin & Co: Craig Thatcher; from Brazil, master harmonica player endorsed by Hohner: David Tanganelli; From Phoenix, Arizona, Performing Artist- Music Historian Blues Hall of Fame Ambassador National Heritage Foundation at Performing Arts: Leon J; Costa Rica’s R & B band: Soul Kitchen and the heaviest funkiest band in the country: Los Neotics.

Doors will open at 10 am, music starts at 11 am. and goes until 11 pm.

There will be plenty of food and beverage options available during the festival. No outside Food and Drinks. Coolers are not allowed.

Free Parking available inside the venue

Feel free to bring your swim suit and enjoy the pool

Lawn chairs and umbrellas are welcome

At 2pm we will continue with the traditional Blues Jam. Bring your instrument and play the blues with your friends and the musicians of the 9th Annual Costa Rica Blues Festival and stick around to celebrate the birthday of the Costa Rica Blues Festival founder and producer and leader of Smokin ‘Mo & Blues Devils: Mo Ledezma
